Sitting at the boundary between green and oolong, Baozhong is the most lightly oxidized member of the oolong family, held to about 15 percent. Also spelled Pouchong, its name means wrapped kind, a reference to the paper once folded around the leaves during processing near the Pinglin and Wenshan districts of Taipei. The loosely twisted Qingxin leaf brews a pale golden-green liquor with an intense, lily-like fragrance, a light body, and a clean, sweet finish nearly free of astringency. Spring and winter leaf, grown between 300 and 600 meters, carries a modest caffeine near 20 milligrams. Its floral lift and gentle body make it a bridge between green tea and heavier oolongs.
विवरण
Baozhong (also spelled Pouchong) is the lightest oxidized of all oolong teas, sitting at the boundary between green and oolong. Produced primarily in the Pinglin and Wenshan districts near Taipei, its name means 'wrapped kind,' referring to the traditional practice of wrapping the leaves in paper during processing. The loosely twisted leaves brew a pale golden-green liquor with an intensely floral, lily-like fragrance, a smooth, light body, and a clean, sweet finish with virtually no astringency.

अनुशंसित बर्तन: Porcelain gaiwan — Baozhong's exceptionally light oxidation (12-18%) and floral gardenia character are best appreciated in a neutral white porcelain gaiwan that neither adds warmth nor absorbs arom.
As the lightest oolong (12-18% oxidation), Baozhong brews closer to green tea than other oolongs. Use 85°C and slightly longer steeps than rolled oolongs. The loosely twisted leaves open quickly. The intense lily-like floral fragrance is best captured in a covered gaiwan.
