Description

Taiping Houkui is one of China's Ten Famous Teas, produced near Taiping (now Huangshan City) in Anhui province. Its exceptionally long, flat leaves — often 6-8 centimeters — are the largest of any premium green tea. Each leaf is hand-pressed flat between mesh screens, creating a distinctive cross-hatch pattern. The infusion is bright and clear with a smooth orchid fragrance, a clean vegetal sweetness, and a lingering floral finish without astringency.

Brewing Guide

Temperature 85°C
Steep Time 120s
Water Ratio 75ml/g
Infusions 3x

Recommended vessel: Tall, narrow glass cup

The exceptionally large, flat leaves (6-8cm) need a tall glass for full display. Place leaves vertically, pour 85°C water slowly down the side. Do not stir or agitate. The leaves stand upright, creating a striking visual presentation.
