Description

Fu Zhuan is a compressed dark tea brick from Hunan province, unique for its cultivation of beneficial Eurotium cristatum fungus, which appears as tiny golden dots called 'golden flowers' (jin hua). These golden flowers contribute a distinctive sweet, grain-like flavor and are believed to enhance the tea's digestive properties. Fu Zhuan has been a staple beverage for nomadic peoples along the ancient tea-horse road for centuries.

Brewing Guide

Temperature 100°C
Steep Time 30s
Water Ratio 20ml/g
Infusions 8x

Recommended vessel: Ceramic teapot or stainless steel pot

Break Fu Zhuan brick into small pieces before brewing. The golden flowers (Eurotium cristatum) are beneficial and should not be washed away — use only one quick rinse. Fu Zhuan can also be simmered in a pot for 5-10 minutes (nomadic tradition). The grain-sweet flavor pairs with dairy and butter.
