Malawi

Malawi is the oldest tea-producing country in Africa, with cultivation beginning in 1878. Tea is grown primarily on the Thyolo and Mulanje highlands at elevations around 600-1,000 meters. Malawian teas are known for their bright color and brisk character, used extensively in blending. The country is increasingly producing specialty orthodox teas for premium markets.
