Description

A unique amino acid found almost exclusively in tea (Camellia sinensis) and certain mushrooms. L-theanine crosses the blood-brain barrier and promotes alpha brain wave production, creating a state of calm alertness without drowsiness. It synergizes with caffeine to enhance cognitive function while reducing caffeine's jittery side effects. Shade-grown teas (matcha, gyokuro) contain 3-5 times more L-theanine than sun-grown varieties because sunlight converts L-theanine into catechins.

Health Benefits

Promotes relaxation without sedation via alpha brain waves, enhances focus and concentration (synergy with caffeine), reduces stress and anxiety, improves sleep quality, supports immune function.
