حول

Ilam District in eastern Nepal borders Darjeeling and shares nearly identical terroir — the same Himalayan foothills, similar elevation, and comparable climate. Nepali orthodox teas have emerged as a compelling alternative to Darjeeling, offering similar muscatel and floral characteristics at more accessible price points. Ilam's tea industry was established in the 1860s with plants sourced from Darjeeling, and many gardens use the same Chinese jat cultivars. The region has gained international recognition for its first flush spring teas and artisanal oolongs, with progressive producers investing in organic and biodynamic practices that appeal to conscious tea drinkers worldwide.
